In line with Earth Day on April 22, the Bureau of Energy, Ministry of Economic Affairs, took the lead by announcing the “Vehicle Fuel Consumption Guide” for the year 112. In the fuel efficiency rankings, Honda FIT 1498cc A1 5D has clinched the top spot for three consecutive years (years 110, 111, 112), covering a distance of 26.4 kilometers per liter of gasoline. In the motorcycle category, HONDA SUPER CUB 110 PRO 109cc M4 excels, achieving an average travel distance of 80.7 kilometers per liter of gasoline. Honda shines brightest, securing the title of most fuel-efficient in both car and motorcycle categories!

The Taiwanese automotive market thrived in 2023, with a total of 476,987 vehicles sold, marking the highest sales record in nearly 18 years since 2005. The substantial growth in 2023 mainly stems from post-pandemic production recovery, with manufacturers actively fulfilling orders and delivering a large number of vehicles compared to the previous year.

The second spot goes to LEXUS LBX HYBRID, covering 26.4 kilometers per liter of gasoline, while the third place is secured by GRACAR’s COROLLA HYBRID ZWE211L-GEXVBR (R16) at 25.2 kilometers per liter of gasoline.

For commercial vehicles, the victory goes to the HONDA SUPER CUB 110 PRO 109cc M4 hybrid gasoline commercial vehicle produced by Sanyang, achieving an average travel distance of 21.1 kilometers per liter of gasoline.

Additionally, in the motorcycle energy efficiency ranking, the HONDA SUPER CUB 110 PRO 109cc M4, introduced by JET MOT Company, stands out as the best performer, covering an average of 80.7 kilometers per liter of gasoline.

The Bureau of Energy emphasizes that to achieve energy savings and carbon reduction when driving vehicles, besides selecting energy-efficient car models, correct driving habits and regular maintenance are crucial. Practices such as reducing vehicle load, smooth acceleration and deceleration, maintaining proper tire pressure, and avoiding prolonged idling are all essential habits for energy-efficient driving.

The Bureau of Energy highlights that the energy efficiency test values published in the “Vehicle Fuel Consumption Guide” for year 112 are obtained in specific laboratory environments and conditions. Factors such as weather, road conditions, traffic congestion, air conditioning use, and driving habits will affect the actual kilometers traveled per liter of gasoline or per kilowatt-hour of electricity on the road, typically leading to lower values than those indicated in the guide.

To assist the public in purchasing high-energy-efficient vehicles, besides regularly publishing the latest certified vehicle energy efficiency information online each month, the Bureau also compiles relevant data annually into the “Vehicle Fuel Consumption Guide” for public reference.
